This is bad... very bad!

I think I’m going to get hooked on applique. I don’t want to be addicted to it, it’s too much work! But oh my gosh, aren’t these flowers and leaves fun on here?
The appliques were cut with my AccuQuilt Studio die #50662, “Flowers and Leaves #3”. I fused them down with Shades SoftFuse, I really like this stuff as it’s very thin and soft.
The original pattern has more applique in the center blue star. I can’t decide if I want to add it as well, or save the center star for a beautiful quilt design. Oh wait, it’s me we’re talking about, the panto queen. Perhaps I’ll applique it after all!

This is my second time doing machine applique. Last time, I used monofilament thread and a teensy blanket
stitch, shooting for that “invisible applique” look. This time, I decided to use thick variegated thread and a wider blanket stitch, and I’m really loving the look!
I know it’s not perfect. I can get around the inside corners pretty good, but the outer points are tough for me. I know what I’m “supposed” to do, after all I have books and I can read (LOL) but reading and doing are two different stories! I’ll need a bit of practice to perfect this!
Either way, I love the dimensional look the variegated thread adds.

Did you cut all the pieces out with your Accuquilt cutter? The shapes all look familiar. I like this design.
Yes, they're all cut with the Chisel tool plus the 3 1/2 inch block die.
My granddaughter wants to know if she can have it!!! How funny is she??? She sounds just like her mother. :)
I like it alot. And one of these days I'll be able to say I cut my pieces with the Accuquilt GO.
looks like you are catching on to machine applique pretty fast!

Your quilt is really lovely. I am waiting for you to use your new Bernina cutwork software for your applique work. Then you can teach "slow learners" like me, how to use cutwork to its ultimate.
CJ you do so many fantastic things. By the way, how are the bees behaving in the heat and rain this summer? I bet you miss your Ahmed and his chicks for your wholesome and safe egg supply.
Have a beautiful week.
I love it! And I love the blanket stitch in variegated thread...what weight is it and Brand? It looks really good, CJ.

I enlarged your flowers, CJ. I like the thread you chose. And the applique looks almost like suede in the pic. WATCH OUT , you may like those applique dies afterall. I know I LOVE mine.
These are beautiful...have you thought about digitizing the shape of the flower and doing the applique with your embroidery hoop? Just a thought...

Great job. I don't like the blanket stitch in black; so glad you chose colors.
A big thumbs up to you.
Isn't it amazing what a little bit of applique can do for the quilt? LOVE it! And I like the blanket-stitched edging with the pretty thread, too!! Polly
CJ, you should have done the applique with your new Cutwork software. Then the blanket stitch would have been perfect (said by me who's still playing & haven't actually cut out anything or done the applique with it). I'm waiting for you to teach us all. ggg. It's very pretty, but then I'm partial to blue. Peace, Diane
Ohhhh so nice my dear!... I cut a circle quilt tonight but now must hit the sheets ... too tired for words these days!

Well, CJ, you're applique looks great. Love the whole quilt and the colors. I agree with Cindy when I first looked at the fabric I thought it was suede.
Isn't it fun to try new things!
The applique really made the quilt pop!!!
Happy watering on Tuesday. I watered this evening until almost dark. Had my German Shepherd for snake protection!!!
Piecing is perfect, I suppose the pieces were cut with your dies.
You have applique in your software v.6. The neat thing about that is the variety of stitches that your software will do to nail down the appliques. Anothing thing to learn.............S
I'm loving how it is turning out!. I also knew it would be a matter of time before you began to get hooked on the applique ;).
Applique isn't something I would want to "have" to do on a daily basis, but once you get a rhythm down, it is easy to forget how much work can be involved in it.
Your stitching is wonderful! I really like the varigated thread--adds richness.
CJ....do you have the cutwork tool? You could have cut the fabric with the cutwork tool (up to 10 layers of fabric at a time) and then it would have stiched the placement line then it would have appliqued it perfectly. Just another way of doing things. The quilt top is beatiful!
