I put the borders on my Pirate Monkey quilt last night, are you sick of seeing this quilt yet?
I have no idea of how I’m quilting it yet, but it’s going on the frame today! Since I added zippers to my leaders, I’ll be able to sit down and attach it, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to stand to do it. And with my wonderful new saddle stool, I’ll be able to sit and quilt it!
The bottle of frozen water suggested to me has been the absolute best thing ever for relieving my foot pain! I’ve also ordered a pair of Birkenstock sandals (I had no idea those were even still around!) as suggested, and will see how they feel compared to my Crocs with ortho’s inserted.

Birkenstock sandals ?? Interesting....
CJ the monkey quilt looks fantastic. The dark blue border added was the perfect combination, it really frames it nicely.

Crocs also makes an ortho version too if you check out their website .. Birkenstocks have no arch support for me ... <shudder!>
PS love the border ...
That quilt is just too adorable--no I for one am not tired of it. Can't wait to see it quilted!
Bottle of frozen water for foot pain? Very interesting, I'll have to try that!
I love Birkenstocks!! Once I got used to them, that is...at first I felt like I was walking on a plank of wood. But mine have molded to my feet and feel great!!
I wear crocs a lot, too, but the Birkenstocks for me are better.

Ridiculously cute!!!
Boy, that stool came in handy! I hope you can resolve your foot issues, I know how badly you want to get back on your treadmill. ;)
cute the way the quilt turned out. I knew a lady that had problems with her spine and the doctor told her to wear the Birkenstock sandals all the time and no other shoes and she always said it helped her - I might have to get some of those for my back and hip problems. Didn't think of it until you mentioned it. I wonder if they come in narrow width? They sell the sandals locally - at Pam's Shoes - strip mall area on East Main near the overpass of the train track area.

Happy to hear the water bottle worked for you as it did and does for me!
Love the quilt....I still haven't done the Five Monkeys yet. I have my grandnephew's first birthday coming the end of October and now I am torn between the two. Thank you very much...NOT!
I never had Birks until I got plantar fascitis. Once I got used to them it was hard to wear anything else. My Dr. recommended them. He was right.
Love that quilt, CJ. You seem to be into blue and green lately.
Some years back I had what I thought was a bone spur in one of my feet. Got the Birkenstocks, Which I wore most of the time & voila no more pain. Give it a try. I like the quilt. Diane in CT
Birkenstock also has removable insoles with good arch support. They come in narrow, medium and wide widths. These are great to put in shoes you already own. I have had some problems with plantar fascitis (not quite this bad, though) and wearing the insoles took care of the pain. Personally I like Naot sandals. Most of them have great arch support. If you check their catalog it will say "Narrow to Medium Width", Medium" or Medium to Wide". Also, Dansko sandals/shoes are excellent. I have gone on 5-hour shopping sprees following my daughter the super-shopper at the mall. No foot or hip pain like with ordinary shoes.
I love the way it's turning out, CJ! I hope your foot feels lots better soon.
Oh man, super cute!! Perhaps if new grandchild is a boy I'll have to try this one.
So glad the ice bottle is working! And so glad you have the zipper leads and the chair, too.
Every now and then I get that feeling in my feet again and I go straight to the exercises and it passes. I've tried Birks, but they don't fit my feet right. Danskos continue to work. I loved the Noats, but my knees didn't like them. Bodies!!! They sure can be a (literally) pain! :-)
I recently got some Mephisto sandals (ie. kind of like birkenstock with pretty bronze straps, lol) and they are like heaven. I want all the colors now.The shoe guy also fitted my with actual birkenstock orthotics in my new brooks running shoes. Wow are my feet feeling so much better. I have a neuroma that flairs on my left foot at the base of my second and third toes! You'll probably never want to take the Birkenstocks off. My one sister with feet issues too, has only been happy with Birkenstocks for years and years. I left the "comfort shoe" store with the most expensive shoes I have ever bought in my life, but am so happy for a tightwad.
Isn't the saddle stool great, and it seems to make me sit nice and straight!! I still feel like i am mounting a horse when i get on it.
I LIVE in my birkenstocks. I use them instead of slippers, wear them outside and inside. I've also had plantar fascitis and know how much it hurts. Fortunately, I live in California so only have to deal with rain - no snow. I must look very stylish with socks and birkenstocks in the fall and winter - but I don't care - it's comfortable.
Stinkin' cute just doesn't describe this enough!!! I can't wait to see how you quilt it. Take close ups, OK!!
The water bottle was fabulous. I love my Birks.......
A B S O L U T E L Y ADORABLE! Seriously!! :-)
Quilt is too cute! I love monkeys and I do like your setting, very interesting and unique!
Another shoe idea for wide feet: www.wolky.com the Jewel sandal
Also, there's another athletic style shoe, also wide, that tips you back a bit and straightens the spine. They are comfortable, but not so good if you have tricky knees........can't think of the name, will do some googling.........Sandy
Shoes are MBT.
Love the borders! Love the whole quilt but I like the way the borders turned out.
Great finish on the monkeys. Look forward to seeing how you quilt it.
I'm an MBT girl--haven't been back to the foot doc or knee doc since October 2008.
