Okay... I think this is it

I am planning at this point cut the borders and piece the center as pictured here.  I removed a few of the pinwheel blocks in the center and replace them with solid white ones, and I think it looks a bit less jumbled now.

If anyone would like my EQ7 project file for this, I’m happy to share it.  You can download it here.

You will of course have to purchase the embroidery motifs, but I know a lot of people have the monkey designs.

I really had fun with this quilt!

That is definitely it!! And I like the white blocks thrown in, it opens it up.

Thanks for the EQ project file...I may do this one someday. For now, I am doing the monkey shines and the monkey alphabet.

Great work, CJ!

For one who has not gone to the dark side yet but is thinking about it, how does this embroidery thing work? After I have the machine I buy different programs to make it embroidery what I want? Like the monkeys, I would buy a monkey program? Then my machine will know what to do? I am from the no bells and whistles type sewing machines so this stuff is over my head, I hope I don't sound too dumb.Maybe I should buy a magazine and it will explain more to me?

Oh, that is soooo cute! You have a winner there! You'll probably have to make dozens of them now--everyone will want one. :-) Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thanks for sharing the project file CJ. I think it is adorable!

As I have watched this quilt progress, all along I was thinking that you were modifying the original Monkey Shines designs yourself. It wasn't until I went to look at them that I realized she had the pirates set as well as several others. How fun!

CJ - This is adorable. A very nice combination of piecing and embroidery, which is not that easy to pull off. Great job! claudia
