Border consideration

Bad, bad me! Housework?  No!  Playing in EQ?  Yes!

I’ve been playing around with the borders all morning.  I’m keep going back to this one, but I’m not one hundred percent sure about it yet.

First I had to redraw the entire quilt in EQ, because my layout changed so much from my first idea of the quilt.  Since I had it laying on the floor in the other room, I had to take my laptop in there while I sat on the floor and copied my layout to the computer… talk about backwards design methods!

This is the first “custom set” quilt I’ve ever drawn in EQ, and I learned a lot!  It was really quite easy, and I will definitely be using this method again.

The embroidery motifs are a bit distorted, I import them as images and make the images the size of the blocks as they actually are, but since some of that is just background fabric in reality, they get a bit distorted.  I know that I can bring them into EQ as .exp (embroidery files) files, but to me that is a WHOLE lot more work, because they lose all their coloring, and I haven’t found that works very well for me.

The reason I’m not sure of this border (or perhaps the layout in general) is because I like the way it looks full sized, but when I look at my thumbnail image, all the color seems concentrated in the center, and it doesn’t look right.  So I’ll probably be going back to the drawing board.

Try adding a second blue border right next to the last blue border and see what you think.

I like them both, but I think the outer blue border does balance it better.

You gotta listen to the "Border Queen."
Could you add the border to number one?
What hits me with the second one is that part of the pinwheel morphs into the center background. The first one would not.
Having said this--it's your quilt and do what pleases you!
Sorry, I have no inside with the weather to send you rain; but, I will say a prayer for it.

I like the first one. The extra white in the borders opens out the blocks. The middle does not have as jumbled a feel to it.

I like both of them!

I definitely like the second one -- it frames it nicely and makes the center stand out! :)

I vote for the second one. Dark colors on the outside frame the quilt, while light colors on the outside usually look like the design goes on forever. I also like the pinwheels in the corners. Diane in CT

Love the quilt. I do like the added blue border.

As for house work, I know the feeling. I got groceries after school today, didn't get home until 6 and then the pantry was a mess. Hated to put the groceries in there. So, I cleaned it and then cleaned out the refrigerator and then had to do dishes. And so on. Never did get down to work on my Be Attitudes.

I like them both, but I have to admit to preferring the first one. I especially like the corners on that one, as they're "different". ;) If you think blue should be on the outside, couldn't you just switch the colors of the border strips so that the white is where the blue now is and vice versa? What bothers me about the second quilt is that the border seems "heavy" in what seems to be a light-hearted quilt. JMHO -- it's obviously your quilt, and you should do what you prefer. :)
