Hmmm...

I have to say, Jim’s choice of thread colors was spot on for his quilt, the cone I chose would have not looked nearly as nice.

I don’t know how well you can see the quilting yet, the lights over my longarm make it hard to see any detail, as they’re very bright.  I’m liking the thread very well, but I’m not so sure about the panto he chose.  But, he likes it, and since it’s his quilt, I guess that’s all that matters!

I have King Tut thread on top, Isacord in the bobbin, and I’m using Quilters Dream Blend for this one.  This is the second Batki quilt I’ve done, and I’m finding the batiks a joy to work with.  I’ve heard that they are problematic to piece, and even worse yet to quilt, and here I am thinking they are much nicer to both piece and quilt on!

I am so happy with the new saddle stool.  I had a bobbin jam up and had to unpick a section of stitching, and boy was it nice to do it sitting down!

CJ --- Are using a computer aided process to do this quilting or is this all done manually following the panto pattern.

I don't know what that is called on your machine. On the Gammill my LAQer uses it's called the Statler Stitcher. I think. LOL.. Something like that. She just loads it up in the computer and changes the # of size if I want a tighter version of the panto (i.e, more swirls per area).

I have many spools of Isacord left over from my embroidery business but so many people tell me I should not machine quilt with it. Have you seen any problems with it? I would be hesitant to put it together with cotton but I have used it on the top and bottom. I would love to be comfortable using it as I have so much.

Gorgeous! Great choice of thread!
I also find that batiks piece nicer.

II think he chose the right thread color--it shows up very nicely on all the fabrics. Great look. Diane in CT

NICE! I love his thread choice, too! I HATE reverse sewing...sigh...but do it allot! Polly

I love batiks - they hand piece well, machine piece well - a little harder to hand quilt through but I do it anyhow! Love the colors.

I love batiks (and many other types of fabric!), and this quilt is definitely looking good. :) The thread is great, and I think the panto he chose gives a curvy contrast to the angles of the piecing. :)
