He loves me... he definitely loves me!

Would you look at this gorgeous, drool worthy chunk of oak my wonderfully fabulous husband bought me today for a cutting table/work cabinet to go in my quilting room?

It is absolutely perfect!  I have been looking for something solid, with storage space, counter height for cutting.  It’s 30 inches deep by 50 inches wide, and I’ll be ordering a cutting mat to fit the top, and Jim will make me a pressing board to lay on top of it for ironing as well.

Yummy!  It weights an absolute ton, and none of that MDF pressboard junk!  This is a photo of it I grabbed off the internet, as mine will be delivered to the house on Monday.

We’d gone into the local furniture store to see if we could find a loveseat for the RV.  We did actually find the perfect one, but alas it didn’t have a removable back, and that’s the only way one is fitting through the door.  But I must say, I’m far more thrilled with this find!

The wine bottle racks come right out, but even if they didn’t it would be great for rolled pantographs.  Or rolls of embroidery stabilizer.  Lucky me!

I'll say he loves you, that is a very nice piece of furniture. Love the color. Keep my stabilizers in a wine rack and it works great.
Have fun.

I love it!! When I was looking for a cutting table I finally found what I wanted at an unpainted furniture shop in Little Rock and it is actually a small kitchen island with a drop leaf on it - not as big as I would like but it is about 36 × 30 and I have a cutting mat that fits the top of it. And it is the right height!! I think sometimes we have to shop for kitchen island type of furniture for our sewing rooms :)

Very clever and very beautiful to use a kitchen island as a cutting table, etc. I think I need one. Also, wine and chocolate would be fabulous in a quilt room.........

That is really a beautiful piece of furniture. By the way, where do you order your custom made cutting mats.

Yes, he loves you! And he's a Keeper! What a great find! It will be a perfect cutting table, and I like the idea of using the wine rack for storing stabilizers. I hope you post another picture when you have it set up in your studio.

Beautiful find. When my husband offered to build me a cutting/work table, I went straight to the kitchen to measure the counter height because I already knew it would be just right for standing work. For width and length for the top, I said measure the floor space, give me room to move, then fill what's left with countertop. That's exactly what he did. Nothing is wasted and the table is huge, which is perfect when I want to lay a quilt out.

So I'd like to see Mary's too :D But I love this -- will you make a new top for a larger cutting space for this or leave it the way it is ? and just how large IS it ?

Where do you purchase your custom sized cutting mats? I love your new cutting table. I also use an island, but it is a simple butcher block one from Ikea, nothing dreamy like yours.
