Friday night sew-in

Was actually an all day sew-in for me, minus a quick trip to town.  I don’t have lots of pictures, since I’ve been sharing them all week, but just one… I finished Jim’s top!

I really wanted to load the top this weekend and get started quilting on it, but I ran into more leader grief.  LOL  My replacement leaders arrived yesterday, and my zippers today, but one of the leaders had a run in it, a hole clear through!  So I’ll have to wait until another one arrives… no quilting for me for about a week!

I did get the take up leader replaced today as well, does that count as part of my Friday sew-in?

Since this is Jim’s quilt, he’s picking the qulting design and thread.  He is pretty sure he wants this panto on it, and while I was going to use a gold variegated thread, he’s picked a darker thread, Sarah Shadows (King Tut).  I’m not so sure about it… but it only has to make him happy!

I had just enough fabric left to make the last border on the quilt top, after miscutting one of them… oops.

I wanted to do some work on the Monkey Quilt, but I’m pooped out now, I hope you all accomplished a lot on your Friday Night Sew-in!

I REALLY like Jim's quilt! Love what you did with it--It looks much nicer than the photo on the front of the book. How many Bali Pops did you use?

I also like those two quilts hanging in the back--is one of them a Bear Paw? Did you do them or are they customer quilts?

I'm too tired by Friday nite to sew, but next week the dear hubby will be gone to Seattle so I'll be sewing my socks off--gotta finish that Pinwheel Party, catch up with the Civil War Tribute, then gotta find a long arm machine to use!

the quilt is going to look great with that thread I think and that design - Jim has a good eye!
I will work on my applique block this evening and pop in a movie to watch - I have not watched tv in 3 weeks.

I like this finished quilt. Jim is picking a thread I think I'd have picked for it. That really is going to finish off neat.

Love this quilt CJ -- it is stunning. I was looking for your post that talked about the pattern... is this one you designed or is it one I could buy? I had a quilt done with variegated thread - it is one of my favorites.

The quilt is turning out so well, CJ! I think I'd have liked the gold thead you mention, but the one Jim picked out will also look great. :)

I just love this. I always thought I only liked bright colors. Guess I have never seen someone who can manipulate color, pattern, and use the software to get the biggest bank for the buck . Just lovely.

Your quilt and wall quilts are stunning! Best looking interior of a garage I have ever seen!
I had an idea........what if you had a sample quilt block in your hubby's colors and used the thread he liked and the one you liked as an experiment just to see how it would turn out. Sometmes it is really hard to know, just looking at a spool, what it will look like on a quilt.
