Pattern change

As I got more blocks made for Jim’s quilt, my eye kept going back to the picture in the book.  I love this block, but the overall pattern just seemed to need a bit of tweaking.

I dragged Jim upstairs to see what he thought of my idea, and he liked it better as well.  If you look at my design wall, the blocks on the left are simply butted up to each other, as per the pattern.  On the right, I’ve added sashing in the same background color, and the connecting blocks with be black like the centers of all the stars in each block.

I think this makes the blocks appear to float, and I like the effect much better.

I would really like to have this finished, quilted and bound before my guild meeting this coming Thursday, otherwise I have nothing to display this month.  My kids are coming down next week, so somehow I doubt I’ll get it finished.

This afternoon I cleaned the RV and put fresh sheets on the bed, it’s going to suffice as guest quarters.

I figure the king size bed in the RV has got to be better than a blow up mattress in my sewing room!  Although my seven year old grandson is going to get a blow up mattress on the living room floor in the RV… no way am I turning him loose in my sewing room!  LOL

While I was out there cleaning, I had to laugh.  Honestly, the RV feels like “home” the minute I walk inside.  This house still doesn’t, even after two years.

I like it with sashing. Less jumbled looking.

i agree .. sashing gives it more 'space' ... and if you can get this done, i'd better get busy to get #2 star done !

Some houses just never feel like home. My daughter lived in one of them for about 4 yrs and I thought it was just me, but after they moved into a different house It felt like home right away. She said the same thing, that she never felt like the other house was home and this one did. I wonder what it is about some houses?

Your RV is nicer than a lot of homes. It is really nice and cozy. I would rather stay in your sewing room though. LOL

I love the way the blocks float - I saw that right away! I do think your kids will be nice and comfy in the RV - they do make good guest houses :) I like your house but I know what you mean sometimes you feel like your house is your home and others times it might just not be you.

Yup, you got it right! :-) Cornerstones and sashing. It's going to be a stunner and Jim's going to love it.
