Purple everywhere!
Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 3:23PM
I spent two hours this morning picking blackberries, which left my hands a lovely shade of purple! Then I spent the rest of the day making jam, I think my counters are purple now too. My apron is purple. Clorox here I come!
I only got through twenty four jars of jam before I ran out of time… tonight is my quilting group and there’s no way I’m missing it!
So there on my counter still sits four large trays of berries, and one heaping colander full of them. Tomorrow, I will think of something else to make, I sure don’t need any more jam!
The quilt group is meeting for dinner at a Mexican restaurant first, yum! I’m always game for Mexican food! I’ll be taking my two toddler/baby quilts along for show and tell, and then they get wrapped up and sent to work with Jim as gifts for co-workers.
On Tuesday I’ll be running up to Springfield Missouri and taking my Bernina 830 in for servicing. I was holding off until my Tutto luggage arrived for it, it’s been on back order forever! I guess I’m going to have to strap it in with the seat belt again, ugh.

I just dropped off my 830 yesterday for its first yearly tune-up yesterday. I don't have the luggage either so I put my module in its orignal box and put the machine on the back floor supported with blankets. It traveled just fine.
Just wondering which Tutto luggage fits the 830? I would love to get one for my 830!
Thanks, Donna in NE La.
have fun at quilt group - I will miss getting together tonight. I'll see you guys in September - yes it does look like you have enough jam to last a while - you must have planted a lot of blackberry plants!!

Oh CJ, those are gorgeous!!! Please pass the bread!
OMGSH!! Those are HUGE!!
I just took my 440 in for service. When I brought it home, my husband took it out of the car laughing that it was seat belted in. I am grateful for the seat belt tip. It makes me feel safer by not having a machine fly through the air if an accident happens. If unbelted people change positions, so can a machine I think.
I wish I would have remembered you guys had your quilt group meeting tonight. I would have loved to come. But I worked at school all day and just now read your blog at 7:30. Maybe next month. Can't wait to hear how it went.
Our blackberries were huge this year too. Not as many as yours but I just started the bed late 2008 so I'll show your pics to them and shame them into excellence. Hubby has canned wild plums, pickles, green beans, and squash. Oh, oh, we tried a corn relish. Really good. He started canning 5 yrs ago and now I can't stop him. If the freezers are full he's canning. After work today, he canned fig preserves. I am a lucky woman.
I just bought my first Bernina. It's old and used but I am blessed. Thanks CJ
CJ, I just bought a new car so I can't fit the xxl tutto in there. We tried at my last class w/Sue. My trunk is too low. So, we strapped the 830 in w/a pillow over the dials for protection. It rode fine and really is much lighter than trying to pick up the machine in the case. Sue's was very heavy w/the stuff you can pack in the extra space. So, I guess I'll be happy w/that. I have the tutto for my 730 but it's so much lighter than the xxl w/machine. I admire all your canning energy. We have a gazillion peaches and I'm sick of looking at them. We are freezing them in small batches to make smoothies.

What a gorgeous picture!!! I am so jealous...
My friend has the 830 and she got a special 830 Bernina case after our dealer showed it to her. She had the X-Large Tutto (or whatever) and after seeing the case for the 830 purchased it. It is really neat the way it fits around the middle of the machine. She now takes it to quild classes and our girls' getaways. She never took it out before she got the new case. I looked on the Bernina website but didn't see it. Just thought I would mention it.
