Nearly insane!  Ack!

Some of my favorite bloggers are into Dear Jane/Insanity quilts.  Not me.  No way.  While I completely admire their dedication and I’m in awe of their piecing skills, they’ve heard me say, no way will I ever piece a four inch block!

I was blissfully using my AccuQuilt to cut out all the litte one inch squares for my baby quilt border, thinking rather gleefully to myself that I would never have tackled a border like this in the past, simply because there is no way I’m cutting out one and half inch squares!  It took me all of five minutes to do them on the AccuQuilt.

But then I sat down and started piecing them… and that’s when it finally sank in… all my blocks were going to be four inch blocks!

ACK!

Ladies, I do believe I’ve pieced my very first nearly insane block.  Only forty three more to go! OMG!

I don’t think this is going to be a baby quilt, at least not for resale.  I will never be able to ask enough for it to recoop my labor.  LOL

I used to be the same way. I thought 1" finished blocks were for the crazy ladies. Now I seem to be working a lot in smaller sizes and 2 1/2" squares look huge and clunky.
I think what your working on now is really nice. The design and the colors are great.

You're just "in sane" yourself so no need to the Dear Jane Insanity quilt.

There ya go - problem solved. LOL

Oh, you crack me up! I have some 1 1/2 inch blocks (cornerstones) in the baby quilt I'm making, but the 830 sews so wonderfully that they turned out perfectly. I know you're piecing on your 630, but I'm way happier with the piecing on the 830 than I ever was with my 200/730.

Sometimes it's a good thing to be insane. Did you every see Quigley Down Under when Laura San Whatever says crazy people are blessed that way? :-)

LOL - those tiny pieces are fun aren't they! (or not) tiny pieces do slow you down somewhat that is why as a sometime hand piecer and all the time hand quilter I never charge per hour - it would be a huge amount - you never really get what the quilt is worth except maybe some of the "famous" quilters :) most of the quilts that take me a long time to make I keep or they go to the daughters.

Isn't it funny how we end up doing things we never planned to. No telling what you'll be doing next. lol

I've made a few tiny blocks too but that's not what I prefer. Nearly Insane keeps calling my name but so far, i've reminded myself that I'm still sane (or my version of sane) and I've resisted. It's just gorgeous . . especially Hanne's red/white version that is the first one I remember seeing completed. I almost said . . I'll do it if you do it but then I remembered . . I'm still sane! :)

Better watch out, first 4 inch blocks, and before you know it you will be making 3 inch 9-patch. You are on a slippery slope - enjoy the ride.
