Uh oh...

I am pretty sure the word “applique”, right along with the word “plan” is jinxed. For me at least! I was 99.9% certain I wanted to do either embroidery or applique in the white centers of these blocks, the entire time I was designing the quilt.
Normally, when I’m piecing, how I want to quilt the top doesn’t normally come to me until it’s assembled, and I’ve spent some time agonizing over how it should look. That’s not a process that comes easily to me yet… guess I haven’t been quilting long enough yet!
But this time, as I put the last row on the center of the quilt (the borders still have to be pieced and added), I knew exactly how I would quilt this one if there were no applique! And it would be custom for a change! I’m so taken with the image in my head, I’m ready to shuck the applique idea right out the window… bet that doesn’t surprise anyone!
It hasn’t escaped my attention that this quilt uses the same green and blue I redesigned my website in either. I’ve half a mind to alter the border, add some floral applique, digitize my logo, and make it an advertisement quilt to lug around with me! Pretty silly idea huh?
I’m re-bonding with my Bernina 630. This one’s been all pieced on it, I always forget how much I love that machine because I always use my 830 anymore.
Tomorrow morning, bright and early, Karen and I are going blueberry picking. We’ve both agreed we’re wimps when it comes to the heat, and it’s a killer this week in the Ozarks, so we don’t expect to last long.

Looks great CJ and I think that's a wonderful idea re: digitizing your logo and carrying it around as a sample. You can always start another project for applique ;)
LOL - no applique! that does not surprise me :) maybe you should quilt a flower design in a bright color in the center of each block instead of applique? I'm sure you will decide what you want and it will turn out great - not all of us like applique after all that is what makes us all unique as quilters.
See you bright and early - maybe we will be lucky and the heat won't start until after 10 and we will be done getting the blueberries!

Wussy!!
I know I will see applique on here one day, just like you will see something embroidered on my 830 on my blog one day. LOL!
Will have to catch you both after you pick those blueberries -- pick some for me too, will ya ? I've got 2 dehydrators if you need an extra if you get too many
Mmm, how I love blueberries. They don't grow around here. And fancy it being too hot--I'm still wearing shoes, socks and sweaters here in the cold, very wet northwest. NOT that i'm complaining, because compared to heat and humidity, this would definitely be my preference. :-)
Love the quilt. Plans are always subject to change. You know Dan's comment--indecision is the key to flexibility!!
Hope you're back home and cool.
You girls must be living right, the weather was cooler this morning. I was even able to get my vehicle cleaned out before it got too, too hot.
CJ, If you wanted to keep this traditional, you could quilt a feather wreath inside each block. I know that as quilters we want to fill blank spaces with designs of some sort whether applique, embroidery or what have you. I think this is a chance to try your hand at custom work. Sometimes silly ideas rock. Consider the Frisbee or the Slinky. Go for it!
Have fun.
