Whoa... where did my day go?

I decided no quilting today, I wanted to do some crafty sewing!  I have a new purse pattern I’ve just been dying to try, it’s a Lazy Girl design, the “Margo Handbag”.  Great way to use up some of my stash that I’m pretty sure will never make it into a quilt too!

This took me about six hours to sew… I am a quilter, I find things like this rather challenging, but it’s so much fun!

This is a really well done pattern, talk about an amazing way to install a zipper!  I’m going to have to make another, as mine isn’t perfect, I did my top stitching around the top of the purse on the lining instead of the outer section (doh!) because I’m direction challenged, but otherwise it went together very well!

There are four nice big pockets on the outside.  The pattern actually only has them on the front, but I did mine on both sides.  The inside has nice big pockets as well.

This purse is very thick, you wouldn’t want to do this on a lightweight sewing machine, the finall assembly had you sewing through a half inch thickness of combined fabric, fleece, and heavy duty interfacing.

I can’t wait to do another one!  I wonder if it will take me all day long again?

I did remember I’d promised to bake Jim a blackberry cobbler, so it’s in the oven… but I forgot about dinner!

great reading your comments on the pattern. I received my pattern last week & have been playing with fabric combinations. I think I will like the purse...if it ever gets made. Busy time.

You'[ve got dessert, who needs dinner?

Love the purse, love the fabric you used for the purse and love how you used your stash.

Great bag! I find anything that isn't a quilt block very difficult. I want to be Cindy in my next life.

it turned out great - what was the site that you said you got the hard plastic bottom for tote bags from?

Oh, you're too funny, Yvette.
I'm definitely on a roll. Wish I could just get rid of ROLLS instead............oh wait - this roll is fun.

I bought that pattern recently as well, but haven't had time to make yet. My list of 'have to do's' is dwindling, so I'm thinking I may be free in Aug....:) I bought it because of the zipper...so far I've only made open tops. I hope my machine can get through the layers. Made a tote recently, and the strap came undone when DD used it to haul her books to class...:P
Your fabric choices are great!

Great bag, CJ. Glad to see you shaking things up. I've been doing bags lately. They are fun and a quick fix. In the center picture, what are those fabric samples? Please tell me you don't have all that fabric in bulk? What a collection. BTW, how's the bolts you bought holding up? Are you going to stick to solids? Just curious.
keep up the eye candy

Hey, a man who's getting homemade blackberry cobbler for supper can handle take-out pizza or some quick burgers on the grill.

I have a purse pattern I'm hoping to get made up. Bought it one year and let it set to mellow, cut it out last year....mellowed some more, this year I hope I get it finished. Mellow.....I like that word...sounds so much better than "forgot about."

Finally, a purse that makes me want to make one! Love the colors you chose. I'm not a purse lover, and usually would rather stick everything in my pockets, but this, I could carry. :-)

We ate out. Dan is finally home for a while and it seems we only really sit and talk when we eat out! At home, we eat and then get busy.

Blackberry cobbler. MMMMMMMmmmmmmm. Oh my.
