Another UFO finished!

This one has been sitting in my pile forever! Well it seems like it anyway. I had quilted most of it on my sewing machine, but the thread (Sulky Blenadbles) was giving me so much grief I quilt in frustration and set it aside.
I decided to see how that thread handled on my Millennium, and it gave me no trouble at all! So I finished it up, bound it yesterday (after mowing the grass AND a wild shopping spree for clothes!) and washed and dried it this morning, woohoo!
I don’t like this one as well as the first one I made with these monkey
designs. I was playing around and for the most part, just scattered the designs over the quilt top.
As you can see, all the embroidery was done after the top was pieced, and actually I embroidered through the quilt batting (wool) as well. These designs were a little too dense for that and it didn’t turn out as
nice as the first one, but it’s still cute!
This morning I cut and squared up the backing fabric for the lonestar, and I’m going to get it loaded and ready to quilt today.
Then I want to get back to the baby quilt I started!
With the border being a floral, do you think this would be okay for a boy?

I just love those monkeys! So much so I keep trying to figure out if I should buy the disc and then find a friend who will let me use their machine to stitch them out. I have the perfect recipient too. My niece is two and loves monkeys.
Oh man, now I have monkey on the brain again! LOL
I am anxious to see how you quilt the Lone Star.
I think with it being a dark floral for the border it doesn't look too "girly" and could be used for either.

I think it's adorable and I don't know why any little guy wouldn't love it, flowers and all!
Does this mean you aren't going to make any more clothes? I loved seeing what you made. Did you find anything on your spree? I went to J.Jill this weekend in Dallas and cleaned up. They had some serious sales going on for the holiday. I found some cute linen pants/tops. Now all I need is some cute sandals. Not so easy to find.
I love those monkeys! And who said boys don't like flowers!! Too cute!!
I like the monkey quilt with the random designs! Thanks for sharing another way to use the designs. Someday, I too, will have a monkey quilt for my niece or nephew. I bought the stuffed monkey (Curious George) but have not found the time to embroider the designs.
I love it CJ. Any boy would love it, too, even with a floral border.
I'm going to be making this probably within the next year. I've got the designs and instructions and some fabric, but haven't really done much with it.
Do the designs fit in the large oval hoop? Would you suggest I embroider before I piece or after? If I do it after, I could maybe make it more random, but then I'm hooping a larger hunk of fabric instead of a block. I don't think I will embroider through the batting.

I think it looks great. That's a lot of embroidery! I love the monkeys, but haven't made anything with the designs yet. I did buy them, but the elves at my house haven't gotten busy. It would be so wonderful to have a room full of machines & have a team to stitch out all my ideas.
Looks boy to me. It's adorable.
I like the random monkeys. The quilt is really cute and I think any child would enjoy it.
Those monkeys are so cute. I have been tempted by that embroidery disc since the first quilt you made with the monkeys. You are getting a lot accomplished! Looking forward to seeing your Lone Star. I have one hanging in my closet I've never quilted too---sigh. Your Monkey quilt is going to make someone very happy! Nice quilting!
Oh CJ, now you've finished 2 monkey quilts and I haven't even finished one!!! I have the designs, the fabric....sigh, now I just need to get it done. I need to be independently wealthy and not work so I can spend all my time finishing my UFO's, LOL.
looks great!!! Love the colors :)
