Design "floor" Monday
Monday, June 14, 2010 at 3:38AM
I wasn’t pleased with my itty bitty pieced border, and I knew there was no way I was going to finish all four of them at the rate I was going, so I ripped off the existing border, and remade them properly, instead of using all the squares to assemble them.
Much better, and just one left to go!
I’ll redraft the center blocks, and make another one correctly, and chalk this one up as my prototype. I really like the way the pattern looks with these borders, and when pieced with the redrafted blocks and borders, it actually goes together rather quickly. Ninety percent of this can be easily cut with my AccuQuilt strip cutters, so that part is definitely a breeze!
Don’t forget to head over to Judy’s and see what everyone else is up to this Monday!
Jim’s headed back down to New Orleans today. He’ll be gone for three weeks, but home each weekend so that will be nice.
We harvested some garlic and potatoes out of the garden yesterday, yum! With Jim being gone all week, I’m drooling over the thought of roasting whole heads of garlic and slathering them onto crusty bread… I just have to make sure I don’t have to go anywhere!

Woohoo the borders are done! I couldn’t sleep last night, so I worked on the last border and just finished
sewing them all on.
I think I’m going back to my original plan of donating the Monkey Quilt to charity, and will make this quilt my other baby quilt gift to one of Jim’s co-workers. With that in mind, I’ll probably do a pantograph on it, and get started on another one (ooh fun picking new colors!).
The quilting will show well on this top, since it has so much white in it. I can pick a child’s pattern, but edge to edge feathers would look really awesome on here. Hmmmm….

Love that border!
I love that border CJ! Do you have the Circle Lord or Spiro quilting type attachment for your long arm---because it sure would be fun playing with that inside the centers of those beautiful quilt blocks. Have fun eating the garlic bread! LOL!
Ooh, I'm sure liking that border. It really sets the quilt off perfectly, CJ.
You just are such a nice person, want to share that quilt? LOL
Your borders are great. Love that you used a few colors and it looks amazing. What is this pattern called?
That looks great! The border is perfect!
Love your colours and the border especially! Looks great!
I love this quilt. I am not very confident with pieced borders but this one is very cute> I am a big fan of open spaces for quilting, can't wait to see what it looks like quilted.
It looks wonderful, CJ -- and who says feathers aren't for children? ;)
I will have to add my "me, too" to the praise of the borders. They really are quite something. Perfect to frame the center area. You must have really good eyes to be working through the night.

Wow! What an amazing quilt! I has turned out wonderfully--the border really makes it. When I'm done with the center blocks, the only thing I want to do is slap on some borders--I'm definitely a border minimilist, so I'm very impressed with fancy ones.
WOW! That looks great.
I wish I could go take EQ classes from you.
Really like the border and bold colors on your quilt. I haven't made too many solid quilts as I love the scrappy feel to them. However, I just love yours though.
Beautiful. Love your design, colors. Excellent border too. Love it! Inspirational.
