So sad...
Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11:55AM Here I’ve been wishing for rain, as we’ve had none at our house in a month and our newly established orchard was struggling… the rain hit last night. We didn’t get a ton at our house, but south of us in Caddo Gap it flooded so badly that so far, twelve people have been found dead in a campground. How awful! The river rose twenty feet!
Since Jim and I have spent so much time in an RV in campgrounds, I have a fear of getting caught someplace and being unable to get away. I was in our camper when the devastating tornadoes swept through Arkanasas a few years ago, and watched wide eyed from the camper window as our satellite dish took flight, and the porch was literally ripped off of the bath house… not something I really want to experience again!
I made some rolls this morning, and a cake even! I haven’t done any baking at all in at least a month.
My morning got away from me. I’d planned on mowing today, but it’s raining so a bit of cooking in the morning, and I think I’ll get back to those itty bitty blocks this afternoon.

So sad, saw it on the news.
Can I have a piece - or two - or three? No, CJ, I'm not offering to mow for a piece...LOL
When I heard the news this morning, my heart ached for the family of those who perished or lost. It's been only 5 weeks since Nashville's flood. I have always hated the tornadoes & other bad storms, but the older I get, the more anxious I am. I guess it's because of the TV's weather casts are so much more accurate. I am like a mother hen, I want to hustle my babies under my wings to keep them safe. I can't do that when they aren't nearby. (I also worry about my daughter's daily safety, just living in DC only blocks from the Capitol.) I pray a alot!

we saw all that on the news this morning too and have watched updates off and on today. That is one thing that makes me nervous about camping near rivers - I prefer to be on higher ground (but then you have the lightening! you can't win). I am going to get a weather watch storm radio for the camper this week. Granted it will have to be programed for each area but if you know in advance that it might be stormy weather it will be worth buying one.
We had a lot of rain here but missed the worse of it I believe.

Weather is very fickle. I live in CT & more & more we are getting tornado warnings. Not too many actually touch down, but the winds have been bad. No where near what people experience in the mid-west, but enough to realize how lucky we are. I'm baking too CJ, thanks to you--I'm baking the Raspberry White Chocolate Cheesecake to take to a bridge club meeting tonight. I'll let you know what the consensus is. Thanks. Diane in CT
Oh, those rolls look so delicious!! What I wouldn't give for one right now. :-)
I thought of you as soon as I heard the flooding news. How awful. The weather is so crazy these days. Our newspapers have been full of washed out roads and raging rivers, but so far there've been no fatalities. Strange times.
