This one or that one?

I have to say, while I am absolutely loving having all my Windows software available  to me again, running natively and not virtualized via Parallels, Windows 7 is not OS X! In an effort to get everything running perfectly together, I have reformatted the new laptop twice, with different drivers, and finding out what software needed tweaking.  I’ve never had to do this on my Mac!  Aaagh!

During the last format, I forgot to save my designed Baby Quilt, and had to recreate it.  In doing so, I modified it slightly, and I think I like this version better.

Here they are, side by side.

The original

Modified versionAs with most of my quilting progress, Judy over at Patchwork Times has inspired me to play with border designs in Electric Quilt… heck she’s pretty much responsible for everything quilting related that I’ve gotten into, definitely longarming!

Would anyone like to come mow my now, eighteen inch tall grass?  My allergies are kicking my butt this year, and the yard is wet and swampy, which means leaving sections of it unmowed.  Ugh

I like the new version of the baby quilt better - hey I have long grass in my yard too and some swampy areas that are taking forever to dry out - I need to get busy and cut grass this week too - hope we don't get more rain so this can dry out a little - with this heat one would think it would.

Nah, I'll pass on the mowing.
Hey, wait, maybe you have a riding lawn mover.......nah, I'll still pass.

Does this mean you LIKE your new laptop or wish you'd of gotten a MAC laptop?

The second version looks better to me too. I loved the first version but looking at them together, the aqua in the outer border of the first version kinda creates a sudden stop and start up again effect. #2 seems to have a better "flow". That's why I have so much fun playing with EQ. Even if you had made the 1st quilt, it would have been beautiful but by tweaking the design, you now have a more beautiful design. No fabric wasted, no ripping, no wishing you'd done something differently . . it's all "virtual" til you're ready to start chopping fabric.

And, are you thanking me or blaming me for all this quilt related responsibility you're placing on my shoulders! : ) If you recall, there are a few things I've done because of you too! :)

CJ - I like the effect of the floating blocks in the modified quilt too. And I like the pieced border of that one better too. Very graphic and original. claudia

I'll come mow IF you teach me everything you know about computers and embroidery software... You might want to reconsider that offer :(

I also prefer the new version; somehow the aqua isn't quite so "pushy" in this one, and the pieced border shines. As for reformatting your new computer, CJ, that will teach you not to use your Mac! VBG

Nice. Like your new look. We finally hired someone to mow. Now I can do the fun stuff.

I vote for the second version...

...but, I will mention that your new blog borders are driving my eyes to the sides and back so, I see movement. I know it is optical illusion, but your page is moving!

Gosh, I really loved the first one when you posted it, but now I REALLY like the modified one. i think the open space between the main design and the borders gives you someplace to rest your eyes. Love it!
