A quilter with a voice

No, not me… and this isn’t about my beliefs either, but one of my blog readers was sharing her experience at a quilt show she recently attended, where this quilt was displayed.  The artist is Grayson Perry, and the quilt is called “Right to Life”.

I just posted a link and not the picture, as it’s copyrighted.  But you’ve got to see it!

Last night I had dinner with two other Arkansas quilt bloggers, Vivian and Karen. It was so cool to finally meet them in person!  If we did that more often, either they would get fat like me, or I’d feel guilty and I’d get skinny again!  We went out for pizza, and when Karen suggested we share a large pizza, I had visions of starvation and quickly ordered my own pizza!  Hahaha

Speaking of food, I picked my first bowl of strawberries out of the garden this morning.  Yum!  That will help my waistline I’m sure.  NOT!

Today is the final class for the lone star.  Then I’m on to fabric hunting so I can finish the borders!

LOL - you must have put at least half of your pizza in your take out box to bring home! It was fun and yes we should do it again sometime. (and you are not fat!)

Wow, that quilt is amazing! How do artists put what is their head so perfectly in a picture? Thanks for sharing that

Had a great time.

Wow, it all I can say about that quilt. When I saw the name I envisioned what was coming. You are right. That quilt "speaks"

I have enjoyed your blog tremendously. Yet upon realizing your choices in life, specifically right to life, I find myself having to say goodbye. I know you stated it wasn't about your beliefs but you made a choice when including it in your blog. While I do not take abortion lightly I also cannot waive any woman's rights. We live in a world where men control and have the majority vote. As a woman I have spent my life working outside of the home while taking care of the home. I have worked my butt off while male counterparts make twice what i do.
One more time. While I will not let you use abortion for birth control I will also not let you take it away from me.

D Seals, I am always amazed at how the written word is interpreted. I was trying to convey what I thought was an amazing work done by a quilter who so adequately expressed his voice through his art. It really had nothing to do with my beliefs. I am actually pro-choice, always have been and always will be. But again, this post wasn't about MY beliefs, it was about the art.
