Halfway there!

I haven’t had a chance to play with the borders on my lone star anymore in EQ, but I did get the star exactly halfway done, woohoo!
I think I will be able to get a better idea of the borders once the center is complete. A computer generated graphic is great and really I can decided about 90% of what I want that way… I’m never quite positive until I see it actually in front of me.![]()
I’m excited to see that it’s all lining up nicely so far, knock on wood! The hardest part is pressing it, because there’s so much bulk. I think if I could do a better job pressing, my points would be dead on… and they’re close, but not quite precise. When I’m finished, I might steam it, I dry press when piecing, but that’s not really doing the trick through (in some areas) four layers of fabric, and two layers of foundation. This is a really neat method though, basically fool proof, and I will definitely want to make another one.
We had a stunning display of mother nature last night, in some of the wickedest lightening I’ve ever seen. It was absolutely gorgeous to watch. Unfortunately, tornadoes did touch down in surrounding areas and lives were lost. This area is very prone to tornadoes, they rip through here every year.

"stunning display" of "the big star" too.
I think your points match up really well -- and while you were doing all of that I got done with one 6 1/2 inch paper piece pineapple block - I don't know something sounds wrong about that - I am pretty slow and tend to keep hopping all over the house instead of getting a job done!! LOL

Star points look fabulous!
I have the Quilt Smart foundation for the lone star but haven't tried one yet.
I assume your eye is better...

Your quilt top is looking great! I went to the website link, I think I may have to try this method, looks very easy and fast.
The storm is heading my way, so far all we got was rain over night but it is supposed to get bad this evening. We never used to have tornado's in this area, well not very often anyways, but over the last 8-10 years or so, there have been more and more. Got to love mother nature! I just feel sorry for Cooper, one of my boston terriers, the storms freak him out!! For a dog who thinks he's 200lbs (which hes only about 25lbs) on most days, he's like a mouse trying to escape and big furry cat when we have storms. I need to get him some doggie prozac lol.
I love it!! Makes me want to do one too. Did you use your Studio for cutting? I've found something that has made a huge difference in pressing - the Steady Betty. Here's the link to their site - (I ordered
mine from/ Amazon). It is fantastic and I love it!! www.steadybetty.com
Wow! Those points certainly look dead on to me, CJ! Beautiful! :)
Your star is looking great! I really like the broken look with the background. Admire those points.
We spent a brief time in the closet while tornados danced around. Not fun. Thankful to be safe and sound.
Have fun.
Love it ,CJ! It's looking wonderful! Hope you eye is back to normal, now! You be careful with this wicked weather coming around now! Polly
CJ -- it's looking great ! I am thinking your eye is getting better.
The trick for the seams to sew the grid is to pin, pin, pin. Pin where the joints meet, and those little marks between the seams -- it's just a half mark across the seam above a joint, pin there too. After you sew a seam, press to set the seam from the foundation side (and use your pressing sheet) and then flip over from the front and again set from the top (again using press sheet). I've got 2 grids done and am working on the remaining 6 ...
It looks great ... have another girl that wants to do a broken star and is shopping for fabric on Monday -- I have an oriental for that one all picked out ;D
WOW! Your workmanship is perfect and I love the colors. You are going to have one gorgeous quilt when you are done.
really love the colors of your star-looks terrific, I am looking forward to future updates on it. I agree pressing all those seams is a challenge; always seems to be one that won't go the way it should.
Looking good!
Perhaps one of these days, I'll try this pattern. Love the colors.

It's looking beautiful. Glad you got safely through the storms
way cool! points look perfect to me~!
Been reading about your lost V6 CD. Bummer!!! Any luck so far?
Cj, not too long ago there was much discussion, maybe the Yahoo 830 list, about an ironing surface called Steady Betty. Of course, I had to order one! I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to iron those precise seams now! I know you like gadgets, try SB....you will never look back! And....at least you didn't loose your dongle.
