Sager NP8760

Well I made my laptop decision.  Even though I love Macs, there’s no way I’m going to spend $3k for a laptop that doesn’t even come close to the specs on the Sager I chose.  Most of you won’t be familiar with the brand, it’s a high end gaming boutique brand, and it will be my second one.

Several years ago after tons of research, I ordered a custom Sager NP5790.  My hubby uses it for work now, and it still kicks some major butt!

I ordered again, from XoticPc.  They are fantastic to work with, customer service is as good as Apple.  And so is the hardware.  Sagers are built more like a desktop.  You can totally customize them, and all the components are upgradable.  They also don’t ship with any junk software.  In fact, by default you don’t even get an operating system, just a driver disk.  If you wish, you can order the OS and have it installed.  Nothing beats a computer with a clean installation of your OS.

I did a few upgrades to the basic configuration, faster processor, more ram (8 gigs), etc, but even the standard components on this unit are faster and better than buying a brand like Dell, Sony, HP, etc.  They might also have 8 gigs of ram, but it’s slower ram… and it goes on much the same way for the rest of the components.

I brushed up on my research again and in my opinion, Sager still makes the absolute best laptop out there.  They are rather ugly and boxy, but I don’t particularly care… although XoticPC will custom skin them for you if that matters to you.

You are so knowledgeable about computers -- I know how to turn it on and type :) I envy you but I'm not interested in how they work although I know I should be - maybe one day I need to take a class.

I'm guessing you already purchased the laptop, but just in case. I just bought this laptop and absolutely love it!!

High end gaming? My son would be drooling.

I blame it on the pollen in the air that makes us not have energy or want to do anything. I have the same problem.

What does it say about me that I know the Sager brand? ;) All due to my computer gaming husband. We were thinking about getting on this summer, but don't think we can swing the $$$$ with the baby due in a month.

CJ, thank you for sharing about your laptop choice. I need to replace mine soon and I have no clue what to choose. If you don't mind, and have the time, would you share what components you chose when you customized it.
Thank you.
