A finish!

I always love to type that… doesn’t seem to happen very often!

I simply crosshatched the entire top of this one.  I’m going to do something similar with my Mom’s, but I’ll be using a curvier design which I think she’ll like better.

I’ll also NOT be using Warm and Natural batting on hers!  Gawd how I hate that stuff!  Years ago I bought two rolls of it, (not knowing any better!) and I keep trying to use it on on charity quilts or table runners… but I think that’s the last time I use it for anything other than practice sandwiches.

Without fail, my quilt will come off the frame perfectly square and flat with this batting, but the minute I wash and dry it, the quilt ripples, and I end up having to block my quilt.  I never ever have this happen when I use Quilters Dream.  Maybe my rolls are bad, but I detest this stuff.

I just potted those petunias yesterday, aren’t they glorious?

I don't use Warm and Natural - I have tried it two times in the past and it is awful for hand quilting. It appears to be soft and one would think it would be easy to work a needle through but it is not easy to hand quilt. Some people swear by it but my needles get so dull so fast it is amazing.
Love the cross hatch on the table runner - it goes really well with the design of the quilt.

I am with you on the Warm and Natural. I used it all the time until I tried the 80/20 blend. I have a big piece left that I will save for all my practice work too.

Looks great CJ. Love the pic with the chair -- I noticed the wicker hatching on the chair arms compliments the crosshatch quilting. :-) Nice job.

Like the table runner.

I was in a class a while back where they were talking about batting. The instructor said you can expect Warm and Natural to shrink a minimum of 5% when you wash it. That's just to much for me. I also think it's to darn heavy. I like Quilters Dream Cotton and Dream Wool and rarely use anything else.

The only thing I've found Warm and Natural to be good for is a design wall... ugh, don't like it either!!

I think that Warm and Natural is for if you like the "crinkle" look in your quilts. I like to think of it as the all ready to cuddle up in look. My sister doesn't so she doesn't use it but I love that look for quilts-not for table toppers or runners so I use polyester so get the flat look I desire (Quilter's dream is good also for hand quilting.)

I hate Warm and Natural too. I can't understand how it became so popular. I use Quilters Dream Cotton (the thinnest one) exclusively and I love it. claudia

Add me to the list of those who don't like W&N. :S Even presoaking it doesn't help. I use 80/20 these days, but I may give the Dream stuff a try.

I don't get to type "finished" very much either! Congratulations on your finish! It's very nice . . .

Love this one too! (I'm working backwards lol) Have you tried Bamboo batting? I was in a class yesterday and she just raved about it so I may have to try it soon.
