Pinwheel Party!
Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 7:51AM
Okay, I’m officially crazy. I have no time to do this but I just can’t resist… so I’m joining the Pinwheel Party hosted by Anina over on TwiddleTails!
I’ve added a “Pinwheel Party” button over on the right, so if you want to join, go check it out!
These are the fabrics I’ll be doing mine in. I’ll make the first week today, then I’m going to play on the Millennium!
For baby quilts, do you have a favorite batting type? Cotton, Polyester, or a blend? I tend to lean towards polyester thread and batting for baby quilts, they take such a beating!

I love Quilters Dream Angel for kids quilts. It quilts like cotton but it is poly. The other batting that holds up is Warm and Natural but it is a bit heavy I think.
I see a "BRIGHT" new CJ in the making
First, I'm so glad your sense of smell saved you, your quilt, and your house! What a close call.
Second, the block is perfect! Love your color choices. I'm not officially joining, but I just downloaded the first block. Thanks for the tipoff. I'm not as speedy as you, Cindy and Judy. Either that or I'm doing too much other stuff!
I use cotton batting for baby quilts - there are 2 schools of thought - one is that polyester melts and causes horrid burns on the skin. Cotton - burns easily - but ashes and is gone. Just my 2 cents.
I am another that prefers cotton batting. I'm not an expert, but a few of my quilts have been washed and washed and they stand up just fine. I think polyester beards through the fabric more, and it gets worse with more washing. I use either Warm and Natural or Warm and White. I like the wrinkly look I get with it too.
Pinwheel party quilt reminds me of It's Okay If You Sit on My Quilt by Mary Ellen Hopkins......
Pin wheels are so versatile and fun.
Thanks for giving us the link. i have downloaded the first block as well. Love the bright colors.
The gal who owns a knitting store told me that wool is best when knitting baby blankets because it doesn't melt or burn. Could that apply to batting as well? Just a thought cuz I know you like wool batting.
