OMG! Excitement!
Monday, February 8, 2010 at 3:14PM I have very much enjoyed my HQ16. It is the second one I have owned, if that tells you anything about how happy with the machine and the company I’ve been. Both times when I was getting ready to purchase, I debated on if I wanted to simply quilt for myself, or quilt for hire. If I bought the HQ16, then I could afford it as a hobby… but if I went the commercial longarm route, I’d have to quilt for hire to help defray the cost.
Both times (six years apart) I had someone as a sounding board. This person was generous to a fault with her suggestions, experience and advice. Each time I chose the HQ16 because I wasn’t sure I wanted to commit to a business. Over the course of the last six years, this wonderful lady has answered question after question for me, even though she must get bombarded with them!
I have come to respect and admire this woman more than any other quilter, and it seems that I am always trying to be just like her! I watch what she does, how she does it… I listen to what she tells me (although I don’t always do the same thing) and I learn.
These days, she’s become rather famous in the quilting world! She’s published several quilt books, travels nationally to teach, and is also an APQS representative now.
Who might she be? Judy Laquidara! And she’s now also MY APQS representative! Woohoo, I have a brand new Millennium on the way! Yep, Jim and I have discussed it and we both think it’s time I pursue quilting as more than just a hobby.
In a few days, I will be posting my HQ16 for sale, so if you’re in the market for a gently used, well cared for machine, I have one available!

I read Judy's blog, too, so I'm very happy for you. I would love, love, love to consider buying your "gently used" longarm machine....could you send me info on how much you would want for it and how in the world I'd learn to use it??? TIA (Can I send my email to you privately?)
I am very happy for you and envious. But I need my steady teacher income to finish raising my children. Maybe I can set that for my 5 year goal. Anyway congrats. I have no idea how much HQ's are but might be interested. Please email me.
CJ, I am so happy for you and can't wait to see your quilts. This is so exciting. I would not hesitate to send you my quilts for quilting!!
Congratulations!
May I be first in line as a customer? I have 4 ready to go!!!! Need to practice???? I have 4 ready to go!! ;)
Congratulations, CJ!! Looking forward to seeing how you like being a working girl!
Wow! WAAAAAAAY cool!! If anyone can start a quilting business and be a success, it's YOU!! Polly :-)
Wow, what a post. I have been considering purchasing an HQ16 for a while. Right now I do not have space for the machine, but I am so glad to hear that you have been really pleased with it. I would only be doing my own quilts, and the HQ seems to fit the bill. I hope you enjoy your new APQS. They are a great company. They gave a long arm to my daughter's friend when she was doing Operation HomeFront Quilts out of Pasco Florida several years ago. Very generous.
That is so cool. So happy for you. Now I have to google Millennium.
CJ send me the details on the HQ. I have been on the hunt for a gently used one as you have been so happy w/yours. I know I never want to get into business so this would suit me to a tee. I have so many tops that need quilting and it's just so hard on the 630e. This would totally solve the problem. Please let me know.
Hilary
Congratulations CJ. You'll do so well at it. All your quilts are beautiful, and now you have all that room.
You gotta be kidding! I always feel like I'm a "CJ Wannabee". I guess mutual admiration is a good thing. :) You're going to love that Millennium. Thanks for making me your rep and thanks for all those kind words.
Oh my goodness!! You are ONE brave woman!! How fun for you--enjoy, enjoy. :-)
Congrats to you! I am sure you will be "more famous-er" real soon!
