A little progress!

No finishes to report, as I still have to quilt and bind both of these, but the Schnibbles Picnic top is done, and this morning I whipped out the first of the “Quilts for Kids” tops.

I made a mistake on the Schnibbles top.  After piecing the borders and adding the first one, I realized that there was supposed to be corner blocks instead of having all the borders sliced and diced and meeting willy nilly at the ends… but by then I was so ready to be finished with this little quilt that I decided to ignore my mistake and continue on!

I’m just going to hang this one in the garage over the fuse box anyway, so no big deal.  The colors don’t go with anything in my house, and my garage quilting area looks pretty sad, so a bit of cheeriness will help.

Now for the loud quilt… I thought it would make me crazy to work on this, as I do not like bright colors, but it was fun!  They do not include any binding for these, but the backing is supplied, and the instructions suggest either “pillow casing” the quilt, or folding over the backing to bind it.  Amazingly, I happen to have a half yard of blue fabric in my stash that matches the blues in the cars, leftover from when I made Lexi’s quilt to use for binding.

I’ll dig through my stash today and see what I can come up with to make a second one of these.  I think this is a terrific cause, and I will be doing a lot of these!

Yes - put on the sunglasses ..LOL Some little guy will love it, cuddle with it and enjoy the fact that it's all HIS.

I deviate from instructions more often than not so you didn't leave out those "corner blocks"...you INTENTIONALLY left them out, right? LOL

See - you didn't make any mistakes whatsoever!!

And, YOUR colors "work".

Or, when you don't like one, Yvette, you could always hang it in the closet....

I have almost finished 5 of these little quilts and now it will be awhile before I try them again. But they are so much fun and the kids will love them. I have been missing the binding as well but when we have stashes, they come in handy for these projects. Everyone should do a few. We will have 10 to mail off next week from our motorcycle group. Such a good cause. If you read the story it's because they can't take their stuffed animals with them becaue of allergeries or washablities so they need something to call their own and hold onto!!

Hey CJ: What a great charity to make quilts for. I ordered mine the day you posted the info and it came today! Best of all - I am getting my HandiQuilter 2 (poor me) set up so I can do this one and more.

You are the best.
