Gathered clutch
Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 3:29PM Cute huh? I actually whipped up two of these today, between my doctor appointment, getting my prescriptions filled, running to the DMV, and taking the schnauzer to the groomer.
Floors are swept, time to make pizza crusts for dinner. So much for staying off the foot and keeping it elevated right? How am I supposed to do that?
I’m using the little clutch as a cosmetic bag, it’s about 4” x 8” finished, maybe a smidge bigger. I happened to run across a tutorial on them a couple of days ago, and I’d picked up some fat quarters while at Mama’s Log House yesterday just to make them with.
Three fat quarters will make two clutches, and you’ll have enough of the lining and band fabric to make a third, if you scrounge up another coordination fabric for the front and back. These are sewn, not “in the hoop projects. No embroidery machine needed! A much nicer finish inside and out in my opinion… I probably won’t do any more in the hoop ones after trying these.

Very cute! I also prefer sewn over hoop projects. What are you doing with you SECOND bag....bet I could find a home for it! ;)
Okay, this is a cutie and appears to be a quickie...a great quick gift for a friend.
CJ, didn't YOU say we WERE friends?
Just thought I'd remind you it's Christmastime....LOL
Dr. said "Take care of your foot". If you keep ignoring it, you might get permanent damage. You'll just have to suck it up and REST your foot. I know it's Christmas, but you are only as good as your health. Try to take care of yourself.
So where's that tutorial ? And you've got a knee lift for the sewing machine, so put foot up and use the leg for the pedal LOL I've got a few fat quarters around here somewhere I think !
Oh my word!! How cute is that?!? Love your fabric choices. I'm with Cindy--it's okay if you make us matching ones. I'm not big on having "one of a kind". LOL
Great clutch! Thanks for the link to the tutorial. I really don't like the finish on in the hoop projects either. And sometimes I truly think it is more work! But a great alternative for people that embroider but don't really sew. I am 'old school', with the 'inside/wrong side' has to look as good as the outside drilled into me by mom who did not sew but did beautiful hand embroidery, and my grandma.
SWEET! I'm making one of those. You are like a super Martha Stewart, LOL.
Now that I see the 'tutorial' instead of just reading it -- I'm gonna make a couple too ... OR the alternative is you can make me them ! LOL
