The log cabin

I know many of you have already seen this elsewhere, but I wanted to post the finished log cabin quilt I made for my parents for Christmas, now that they’ve finally seen it.

I quilted this with a Valdani hand dyed cotton thread, 35wt, which is pretty chunky.  I used a blended deep gold, as I really wanted the quilting to stand out.  The pantograph I used is called “Clematis” by Willow Leaf Studio, you can view it by scrolling down on this page.  The label was embroidered on my Bernina 830.

I tried to get a picture of my parents holding the quilt outside, but it was too windy and too sunny, and the picture didn’t turn out, so these will have to do.

I made my mom a zippered pouch and a couple of free standing lace bookmarks.

And another for a friend, along with more bookmarks and a snowflake.

Jim loved his robe and handkerchiefs, and now I’m ready to start another quilt project!

I lay odds you made your Mom's heart smile.

Never have asked, CJ, does you Mom sew or quilt or do needlework?

WOW!
The quilt is beautiful, I loved your colors and especially the "white" logs around the gold center and then the beige logs, etc. The quilting really stands out with your valdani thread, the stitches are so even, and I love the placement of the design. So, top of the line tools with artistic ability really make a masterpiece! And the label, bags, etc. All beautiful. Looking forward to more of your projects in the new year....

What a treasure, CJ!!! Who wouldn't love a special quilt like that? I've save the tutorial for those bags. I'm sure my daughters and friends will be getting some of those through this coming year.

We have ice droplets hanging from the trees, but the roads are clear.. so far. Hope that's IT!!!

Everything is beautiful! Where would we find the pattern for the little zippered pouches? I like those.
