Every kid's dream...
Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 5:44AM We’re having Christmas a couple of days early! It’s supposed to snow on Friday, and our family has to get here via twisty highway 7, which is incredibly scenic and runs along the Arkansas Grand Canyon, a beautiful sight but not fun to drive on with slick roads!
I’ve already got bread rising on the counter and smoked roast beef thawing in the fridge for some yummy sandwiches for lunch. I’ll be tossing a ham in the smoker shortly, with a cherry and port glaze, and will start on dinner rolls next. Scalloped potatoes and broccoli in cheese sauce will round out our meal, I’m keeping it pretty simple this year.
Partly because there is a four thousand pound metal shaper sitting on a flatbed in our driveway, which has to be unloaded today, we had to rent a large forklift again to do the job… Jim’s planning on these things is never convenient, to say the least! Of course we weren’t expecting anyone for another two days either.
My new KitchenAid will be getting a workout today, I hope she’s up to the task!
I’ll be able to post pictures of the log cabin quilt early, yay!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Have a great christmas!
We usually have something simple for christmas also, from lasagna to chili to gumbo we have had it all.
Jim is doing what with the equipment?
Let me go get my holiday sweats on - elastic always is better when good food is on the table.
CJ, Merry Christmas. You have ALWAYS been a light in my small blogging world. You're the one that brought me here and I learn so much from you.
Make memories.
You're admired.
We are doing a simple Christmas also. Smoked roast, garlic spuds and lots of veggies and goodies. Hubby has decided he is the smoke master so I let him be. :)
How's the foot with the boot doing? Getting much sleep?
what is a metal sharper? 4thousand pounds!
the food sounds great - maybe the snow will pass us by
have a great time.

I do not enjoy those roads on highway 7 either. Usually going somewhere is fine, but the getting back home seems to take forever.
Have a great day with family!
have a great time with your family,
Merry Christmas CJ to you and your family!
Merry Christmas. Enjoy your family. Snap some pics every once in a while so we may enjoy your food. We're voyeurs, you know. We love peeking into the lives of our favorite bloggers. I want to know how Jim reacts to his new robe. I'm sure he'll love it. Have a great time with your family.
What was that you posted on Facebook.... no white Christmas??? LoL. It could get us and probably miss you just because I teased you. Gene is fixing ham and no telling what else. Doctor said today that my foot looks good, but even after the stitches are out next Wed., I'm still restricted for another week or two. So, whatever he wants, is fine with me!!! Dessert will be brandied fruitcake.
I'm sending my letter tomorrow to Santa that says I want thicker hair and a thinner body this year. I hope he doesn't get it wrong like he did last year!!!! Merry Christmas and a very quilted Happy New Year!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Your meal sounds wonderful and I think simple is a good thing. That is what we are doing this year, simple. I ordered roast beef and roasted chicken for 35 people. My sisters and I will make the rest. A Buffett it is. Paper plates!! No one has to do dishes. We learned a long time ago, no one wants to clean up. Then back to quilting. Post some pictures. Would love to see. Geri
Have a wonderful Christmas. Thanks for all you do.
CJ, I hope you and Jim have a wonderful Christmas! As always, your food makes my mouth water! YUM! You are my gourmet guru!! God Bless!! :-)
