It's here! Better late than never!!

I’d just finished cleaning up the kitchen for the day when guess who… Santa Claus showed up in his big brown truck with my new mixer!

It’s a good thing I ran out of steam, because I still have more cookies to make so I can try it out over the weekend.  Bread will be the real test!

Imagine my surprise when I put it on the counter next to my old workhorse, and discovered they were the same size!  Everyone has been emailing me to congratulate me on the new one and tell me how huge the 600 series machines are!  As you can see, only the bowl is bigger, and it might just be wider at that, I’ll have to fill it and see!

I prefer the looks of my old one, and I definitely prefer the sound of it.  The old one purrs, the new one sounds a bit on the whiney side to my ears.  It has nearly twice as big of a motor as the old one, so I guess they wouldn’t sound the same, but if I didn’t know better, I’d say the new one had the little motor in it from the sound of it.  That doesn’t mean it won’t operate beautifully, I’m just sayin’…

It fits just fine under my cabinets.

I did get some more sewing done, only I can’t share pictures until after Christmas.  Hopefully I won’t forget!

Peanut butter, molasses, and pecan (whatever they’re called, I’m so tired I can’t remember) are made.  I put a few in a cookie box to snack on and I freeze the rest, that way they stay fresh over the holidays and we just thaw out more when needed.  Stale cookies, ugh.

Those pecan thingies… I’ll have to type up the recipe.  I know everyone has a recipe for these, but this one is the best I’ve ever tried.  The molasses cookies were excellent as well, although I didn’t follow the recipe.

Thank heavens for pizza.  I realized around three o’clock that I didn’t have anything prepped for dinner, so I whipped up some pizza crusts and started some marinara sauce… and I have two leftover Italian sausages in the fridge, some Greek olives and mushrooms, so we’re good to go!

Speaking of pizza crusts… if you haven’t learned to hand toss your dough yet, you absolutely must.  I used to roll mine out, because it takes a little practice to learn to hand toss them, but it makes a world of difference in the texture.  Yum!

I like your new mixer. I have a tilt-head KitchenAid that I've had for years and I love it and it's a dream with bread dough even though it's got a smaller motor. And, that little bean pot on your counter, I have one exactly like it! Love those lace bookmarks and snow flakes.

Wow, we both get new mixers the same day. I purchased the Aratisan at Kohl's today. I hae a gift card for $200, and a 305 off coupon. the $349 machine cost me$209 plus tax, so with the gift card I really just paid $9. I have never had one on a stand, just the little old mixer. I am SO look forward to making bread and cookies with it. I also got $40 in Kohl's cash that isn't good until 12/26, I am going back then and getting the grinder attachment!
Happy Mixing, oh and sewing too.

So, if I wear mine out real quick-like, can I have the 'old' one ? LOL

I can't wait to hear your report on your new mixer. Its a beaut, but there is something endearing about the looks of your old one. It kind of reminds me of the very first sewing machine I ever sewed on - an old Kenmore of my Mom's with a rough grey finish.
What a busy girl you have been. The cookies all look great.

I had gotten a new one several years back and I swear the motor sounds different also than the old one did - not as good as you say. I think mine is a different model though as it doesn't have the things on the side holding the bowl. The old one was like that either - just a plain old kitchen maid I guess :)
I'm just about done with the dear jane top - come on over to the site and see where it stands now. I should have it done before the end of next week.

Congratulations! Since you already had the big one, I guess this wouldn't be that much bigger. If it really sounds weird and you think there might be something wrong, call the Kitchenaid service center. The tech guy will listen to it over the phone, and if it's not right, they will send you a new one. They will also sent a UPS pick-up slip to return the defective one. Pretty impressive customer service!

I have the same 600 series KitchenAid. I love it and use it ALOT !!!!

Let me tell you a story though, CJ. I was actually crushing up oreos cookies, a recipe of yours - I think it was the cheese cake one I use. The oreos were going to be the crust of the pie. The motor just STOPPED - grinding noise - but no movement. I had it over a year at this time.

Scott is like Jim - opened it up, found out one of the rotating gears was stripped, ordered a new one right from KitchenAid, had no problem replacing it and my KitchenAid is good to go once more. The grease (thick lube stuff) that Scott ordered too for the guts was more expensive than the part.

So don't crush your oreos cookies in your kitchenAid - it just might happen to yours.

Almond Cresents made with pecans. I made them with almonds last year and they didn't taste so good.

When I first saw that top photo I thought you had 4 mixers. LOL!!!! I thought, CJ collects mixers like sewing machines. I guess I had better grab another cup of coffee so I can see straight. ;)

Have fun with your new toy!

Congratulations on your new KitchenAid. Let us know how you like it, and if you notice any big differences. It sure looks nice! I emailed you I had purchased the tilt head KitchenAid 300 watt at Costco, but I took it back yesterday and purchased the tilt head Artisan model at Sears instead. 325 watts, and larger handled bowl. The Costco model had no handle grip. I need a grip handle bowl for sure! My new Artisan is the same platinum silver color as yours. I luv that color! I also got a 3 yr. full replacement warranty for it at Sears. We used to never buy extended warranties for anything, but on just about all our new appliances we have purchased in the few years it's sad to say we have needed to use them. Washer, dryer, microwave, TV, cell phone and computers. It's like they make things to last to the exact week or day of warranty expiration, and kaboom! After reading Cindy C. comment here---I'm doubly glad I did this. My new Artisan is not overly noisy and I got the new bowl scraping beater blade at Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20% off coupon. This is the first new mixer I have had in 40 yrs.! I retired my old Sunbeam for this new beauty! A lot of mixing going on! <grin>

My sister has that mixer. We did nut rolls with it and I don't remember it making more noise then my mixer. You will love it. Wish I went bigger now. Geri

I bought a new red "lift" at Sams over Thanksgiving. I love the color, the look, but like you, I swear it has a whiney sound. My old one was nearly 20 years old (275w). I don' recall it sounding this way at all. Truly, it has me concerned and didn't know if I should try to take it back, call Kitchenaid or what. Any opinions?
