One more apron

And I think that’ll do me for awhile.  When these get grungy, I’ll make some more.  I have enough fabric left over from both of them to make several pouches, so I just may do that with the scraps rather than chop them up for future scrap quilts.

Williams Sonoma is killing me!  Today only, they have the big 610 Professional KitchenAid stand mixer on sale for $299… that’s quite a bargain!  And they have it in a gorgeous cherry red!

But… there’s nothing wrong with my old one… except the fact that it’s had twenty years of hard use, and I’ve been wondering for the last couple of years how much longer it will last.  You know if I pass up a sale like this, it’ll quit next week and I’ll have to pay $499 to replace it… but if I buy the sale item, it’ll just keep running for another ten years!

I say if you want it and can afford it, you better buy it now and put it away for when you need it. Or use it now because it's pretty and new and save the old one for the spare. ....yeah, that's what I would do. :)

I would get it now while it is on sale and put the old one away for a spare - who wants to keep something brand new and shiny on a shelve!

I would so buy the pretty red one, and put my old one away as a spare! You never know when two mixers may come in handy....just like a sewing machine ;)

I got the 600 several years ago and love the big 6-qt bowl, especially for bread and double batches of cookies. I wore out my orginial (circa 1980) one and got a new one just like it about ten years ago. It was just fine, but the bowl was small. For a while I had both on my counter, but finally put the smaller one away. There have been times when I used both! You're such a fabulous cook, I'd say go for the beee-u-ti-ful, big, on super-sale red one! And since I'm older, and therefore wiser, than you, you should listen to me. :-)

Aw, go ahead and take the leap. Who can resist red?

I have it in steel grey. I wanted the smaller one but my DH thinks big and bought me the big one for Christmas last year. I had one for years (royal blue) and my DD took it home one day. I wanted another small one in yellow but not to be. I'll warn you. It's HEAVY. My cabinets are too low for it to sit on my countertop. It's an inch too tall. I have to store it in my pantry. I wouldn't want it out all the time anyway, it's too big. I like my countertops clean and not cluttered. I do not like that the top won't lift. You have to raise and lower w/the crank and it really isn't enough clearance to add things easily. I just really don't like it but am stuck w/it for a gazillion years, I'm sure. I sure don't want 2 of these hanging around.

I'd say the vote is for getting the cherry red one -- and it would fit nicely on your counter LOL

Put the old one in the travel trailer! It might come in handy!

You have a back up sewing machine. Why not a back up mixer?

I'm with you on the KitchenAid!! Would love the beautiful turquoise one! But mine is just old and runs like a workhorse - and has for more than 35 years! But a new one sure would be nice!

Your old one probably has AT LEAST ten years left in it. However, the larger one is really nice. I got it in red too, and it is wonderful for bread -- the bowl is enough bigger that the dough fits much better. Besides, the splash guard on the 610 is the best yet. The only thing to be aware of is your old attachments. If they are bowl based (like the colander & sieve) they won't fit and the newer ones aren't nearly as good.

You will be delighted if you do it!

My big red one replaced a 4 1/2 qt "harvest gold" from the 70's. I sure can identify with getting tired of the color! But the got the red anyway. Don't tell my husband, but that was really the only real reason for getting a new one. It's also true it is BIG and HEAVY and doesn't fit under the counter. So I had a special cabinet built with a lift shelf to store it. It stays plugged in and when lifted up, is a little lower than the counter -- just the right height for working.

I'm excited for you CJ -- you will love it.
