Woohoo it's finished!

And not only did I finish Jim’s bathrobe, I had my patterns mixed up, this one didn’t need lengthening!

Isn’t this fleece just the coolest?  I found it a couple of months ago when I was up in Conway at Hancock Fabrics.  It’s a marbled fleece… I have never seen marbled fleece before!

I took the last of the bolt when I bought this, and had there been enough, I would have got enough to make myself a matching robe, this is so my color!  I’m actually a little jealous!

The only thing left to do is hem the sleeves,  but I will wait until Jim opens it at Christmas to do so, as I’d rather get them perfect once and not have to redo them.

I’m just trying to decide if I want to monogram it or not.  I always embroider mine, tone on tone, but then I’m not a guy either!

I learned this morning that we’re losing another quilt shop, over in Conway.  Circle C Quiltworks in Pickles Gap Village is closing at the end of the month, sadly.  She hasn’t been there very long, but that seems to be the fate of every single quilt shop that opens here.

I never even made it over there to see what she has! She sure must not have gotten much business to have to close already! What six months? Too bad - I can't figure out what it is for quilt shops in this area - plenty of quilters but just no interest in keeping a shop open - maybe the on line competition is too much? Or they are paying out too much in expenses? I'm never interested all that much in driving the miles to these shops (she was what? 50 miles from here at least) so only go once in awhile but if we had one right here I would be checking them out and buying.

Great robe. You did wonderful. Details. What stitch did you use on your serger? Do you have a coverstitch? I'm thinking you have a separate cs machine. I'd monogram it. Jim likes nice things, and a monogram embodies "fine dressing". Good job

If that area is anything like ours I can understand quilt shops having trouble staying open. A lot of quilters around here think anything over $5 a yd is too expensive & won't buy it, prefer even cheaper and shops can't buy nice fabric at wholesale for cheaper than that. My nearest shop has a sale room with all fabrics under $4 a yd but it's looking a little empty lately. One of the employees told me the owner hasn't been restocking it because she can't find fabric that she can sell at that price. Good thing we have stashes!!

What pattern did you use for Jim's robe? Love it! I don't even know how to sew fleece. Do you use the serger? I fear more and more shops will close with the cost of fabric and batting going up so much, I fear it's going to make quilting cost prohibitive for many.

I finally made the almond danish. OH MY GOD. That is the best thing I've ever made. It did not make it to Sunday Breakfast.. Thank you from both of us.
