I'm sewing!
Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 9:22AM I did my two miles of rowing, then worked out with the kettle bell (love that over free weights!) and decided I wasn’t in the mood to spend twenty minutes of my day driving to and back from the walking trails, so I did my two miles on the dreadmill. I just can’t figure out how walking on a treadmill and walking on ground can offer such a different workout, but it does.
When I walk the trails (they’re pretty flat) I walk at about 3mph, and by the time I’m through, my thighs are on fire and my entire body is pooped. It takes me forty minutes to walk two miles. When I use the dreadmill, I walk and jog, and can cover two miles in about 33 minutes, and the only muscle in my body that gets a workout from it is my heart, it definitely pumps more, but only because of the faster pace. Sometimes, I get cramps in the muscles around my shins, but that’s it.
Anyway, I save quite a bit of time by walking at home, and since I baked and did some housework yesterday, and I made enough Beef Szechuan and rice yesterday for leftovers tonight, I think I’m going to spend the day sewing! My back and feet are too sore for much else anyway.
I need to finish the pink and green toddler quilt I started. Nope, I haven’t touched it since I posted pictures a couple of weeks ago with the two blocks… I better get cracking!

Dreadmill! LOL Maybe it has something to do with being outside, fresh air and all that.....I don't have a clue. :-)
Be sure to take breaks while sewing to get up and stretch. I've started setting my timer for 20 minutes of sit down time and being vigilant about the moving around instead of sitting for long periods of time. Sure makes my back feel better. Have a fun day!
We have a treadmill and my stride is so long I end up tripping all the time. We have 88 acres, so I much prefer to walk the paths and roads around here than the treadmill. I was walking in the early am. but now it's so wonderful outside, I'm doing it as soon as I get off work and my shorkie-poo dog is loving the long walks. She sprints and I walk really fast. We love it. I, too, haven't been in the mood to sew. First really good cold front and I'll be there. Hilary
