The Old Mill
Monday, October 4, 2010 at 6:12AM This is the first place Jim and I visited on our jaunt down to Little Rock on Saturday. Built in 1933, all the “driftwood”, the mill building, and “driftwood” bridges are built out of concrete. It was really cool, and very scenic! There’s more information about it here.
There were two really cool bridges. Honestly, I had to touch these as I really thought they were wood! This is the first bridge, the smaller of the two.
Apparantly I forgot to take a picture of the second bridge. I thought these stairs were really cool, and the next picture is taken standing inside the mill, directly above the water wheel looking down.
I made chicken cordon bleu with potatos anna and steamed broccoli last night for dinner, it was quite tasty! I started a batch of dough before bed to ferment on the counter overnight, and I’ll be making pizzas tonight for dinner, with grilled italian sausage and portobella mushrooms.

it is a pretty place isn't it - we first went there when the kids were small and they loved wandering all over it. I haven't stopped there in a while. My older daughter only lives a couple miles from there now and off and on they stop to wander through it still.

I am so coming over for dinner!!! Your pictures are beautiful. I hope your feet are feeling better. Those Birks are the best on the market for feet problems. Have you tried those crazy Vibrums with individual places for your toes?? DH loves his, and I am looking at them, because they keep my hammer toes in place! Off to wrestle a t-shirt quilt.
Thanks for posting about some places to visit in Little Rock. DH and I will be passing through on our way to Houston in late October, and we are always looking for interesting places to visit along the way. Much more interesting to stop and explore for an hour or so before getting back on the Interstate.
Thanks for the pictures of the Old Mill. After our trip out west this spring, we've decided to do some day and maybe overnight trips right here in Arkansas. Little Rock has a treasure trove of sights.
Yum-mm noises for your dinner last night. Gene had sausage made by the German butcher where we take our beef, 'fried' apples and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Pulled pork for dinner tonight!!! It just fell apart when I opened the foil this morning. The potatoes anna sounds like a good side dish, too. I don't know about everyone else, but I love getting fresh ideas for meals. Thanks for sharing your menus.
Why can't that be MY backyard? I could so see myself sitting there somewhere with a good book or my camera ALL day long! It would be hard to leave.
Great picture of you too!!!
That place is sooooo cool! I would love to visit there and hang out a while. I have never been to Little Rock.
Man, I wish I could cook like you do--I can't even think of what to have for dinner!!

drooling over here...seriously...can I come have pizza with you tomorrow?
Love the pictures. Larry and I are going to have to plan some sight seeing now that the weather is cool. Now, I just have to make sure I don't wait until it is freezing. You know how the weather in Arkansas is.
What a cool place! I'm so envious of people who can do such skillful work--and in concrete! My niece went took a fifth year (she's a radiation therapist in Monroe, Louisiana) in Little Rock so I'll have to ask her if she saw this amazing place.
