Off to Little Rock...
Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 5:28AM I think. That was the plan anyway, but I didn’t get much sleep last night and I haven’t decided if I want to go or not. Jim and I thought we’d run down and check out the Big Dam Bridge, and walk a bit of it… only a little! The shortest section is twelve miles long! It’s the longest pedestrian bridge in the world.
I’d also like to visit Villa Marre in the historic Quapaw Quarter… it’s the victorian home where “Designing Women” was filmed, as well as the “Old Mill” in North Little Rock, which is the mill featured in the opening scene in “Gone with the Wind”.
The farmer’s market will also be open on the Riverfront today, and I’ve love to stop at the Fresh Market for some almond croissants, they are even better than the chocolate ones!
Of course Jim will be driving and I could sleep on the way there and back… but that would be rather rude! I’d love to take him to that wonderful Mexican restaurant my friend Candy and I discovered for lunch, yum!
I posted my recipe for “Cajun Salmon in Cream Sauce” over in the recipe section, but in order to make it you have to order the spice that I use, I provided a link. Trust me on this, you will love this blend!
I did load up a practice sandwich and played with the Filtec Magna Glide bobbins yesterday, wow! I’m sold. They are just amazing. My Millennium already gave me excellent tension, but these make it simply outstanding, from the start of the bobbin to the end, with the magnetic core, there is zero backlash to be seen.

We have been over the bridge and it is short. A lot of people just walk or bike over the bridge and back and it is enough of a walk - I would think it is maybe a two mile round trip if you just walk the bridge. It is pretty.
The Old Mill in North Little Rock is pretty too, it has had a few renovations over the years I believe. I haven't seen the "Designing Women's" house. The farmer's Market in Little Rock isn't that great, we have seen a lot of others that are much nicer when we travel.
If you go have fun.

I need to get out more. I've lived in Arkansas all of my life and did not know about either of these places.
Larry and I want to start getting out and visiting spots in Arkansas so I guess I need to just ask you and Karen for ideas. Have fun. I would love to hear about them if you go.
Don't laugh too hard...but I quickly read that as Cajun Salmon in Ice Cream! I have to quit reading so fast.

@Jeanette. does that mean that the salmon will 'melt' the ice cream to make the cream sauce ? LOL
I may just have to get these blended spices to make this .. I don't necessarily like Cajun that much, but this might be a good start ...
Have fun -- let me know how the bridge is -- we might have to make another day of it !
