Score!

Today’s shoe shipment arrived today, bringing me up to fifteen pairs of shoes I’ve tried in the past week!  And I scored!  No sneakers, but a pair of regular shoes.  Now, this isn’t a style I’d normally choose, but they look okay on, and they FIT!  Wahoo!

These are Birkenstocks again.  So far, they are the only shoe I’ve tried with a toe box wide enough to accomodate my bunions.

Here’s a comparison shot of a pair of Eastwick Loafers, in a WIDE.  Look at the difference!  Not to mention the Eastwicks have been heavily stretched with shoe stretchers.  Even in the Birks, you can see that my bunion is still pushing the side of the shoe out a bit.

Happy, happy dance!  Thank you Birkenstock!

Shades of the 60s! I am so glad the Birkies fit! I love Earth shoes (looking down at sandals with sox!) as they are wider too. I even have Earth winter boots.

I think they're cute, will look great with cool socks, and as long as you can walk in them, you'll walk! They'll be cute with those pants you were making, and will look good with jeans, too. I live in a college town and I'm amazed at what I see people trekking around in, no matter what the weather or the terrain: Birkenstocks!!

Have you ever tried Easy Spirit shoes? I also have foot problems and they are the only brand I buy. I have the following pair in Wide, but they also comes in Wide Wide -- they have wonderful padding inside and are very comfy.

I also have 2 pairs of these in Wide and they are quite wide (and also come in WW):

They are amazingly comfortable. Glad you were able to find something that works -- it sure can be a problem!!

I'm glad the Birkies' worked for you CJ. I can't imagine the Eastwick loafers would be that comfortable with your foot problems.
I don't have bunions, but I'm sure into comfortable shoes! :o)
Two other brands you might want to try (if you haven't already) are Keen, and Ahnu. Both brands at Zappos. Wide comfortable shoe box. I like your new Birkies too!

I love those kind of shoes! Comfortable and wide and boxy! I have short, wide feet and those Birkies are the best!
Glad you got a pair to fit that you like.

For what it's worth, a friend had her bunions fixed last year and she's so happy she did. The longer you wait, the worse the surgery is going to be. I'm probably going to have to get at least my left foot done in 2011.
