So long Viking! Bye bye Pfaff!

Plans call for manufacturing to transition to company’s existing facility in Asia.
You can read the full article here. How very sad… for all those employees and for all the loyal customers of both Pfaff and Viking. Yes I read the article… design and engineering will be staying in Sweden, but Viking and Pfaff sewing machines (along with Singer) will now be produced in China. We all know what that means.
I am so glad to have Bernina sewing machines! I guess that makes them the sole remaining European produced sewing machine?
Comments? How do you think the manufacturing move will effect the quality of the machines, and the customer loyalty?

Another checkmark in the column titled "why I spent so much money on a sewing machine!" We're going to Switzerland next September, and I'm hoping to take a tour of the Bernina factory. Would love to see where our Bernina babies come from .....
How sad. I still have an older HV Designer I that I may keep now instead of selling it. However, my main machines are my beloved 730E and my 180E. I hope Bernina never decides to do something like this....
Oh boy am I happy I made the switch from Viking to Bernina! When I was in the market last spring I was trying to decide whether to buy the new Viking Sapphire, with it's large sewing area or make the move to Bernina. I had such an investment in Viking accessories, it seemed to make sense. But I decided to go with the Bernina 830 once I learned that the Husky folks had been bought out by the group who made Brother, Pfaff and Singer. I knew it was just a matter of time.
Well I love my 830 and this just makes me feel justified in my decision!
