Dress progress

Well I don’t know if it’ll be anything to write home about, I’ve made so many mistakes already it isn’t even funny! I’d actually like to make the dress again, now that I’m aware of all my mistakes, I think I could get it right next time.
I still have to hem the skirt, make the bow, and put in the zipper (which is where I’ll probably screw it up royally)… and I must size, a size “4” is way bigger than what I had imagined!
The skirt is a full circle, lots and lots of fabric there! I used the wonderful Bernina ruffler to gather it all. Setting the ruffler to 6 (a ruffle every 6 stitches) and the stitch length to 2.0mm, it doubles at a nearly perfect 2 to 1 ratio.
This dress by the way, is being sewn on my Bernina 630.

It appers as though you have already put in your facings at the neck - or maybe it's doubled fabric there - so I'm surprized insertion of the zipper would not have already been called for.
And, just out of curiosity, why not the 830?
The dress it adorable!! When it comes to sewing clothes, well lets just say I was never very good at it!! lol I barely past Home Ec. class because of my sewing skills, or lack of that is lol.
BTW, if you still need a little girl for this dress, I have a niece who wears a size 4 ;)
Cindy yes the facings are in (and turned out very nicely if I do say so myself!) and I have no idea how the zipper goes in, the directions are in Greek I swear!
Why the 630? Well because I wanted to sew in the "new" room for a change, and my 630 has been neglected for a year ever since I got my 830!
Thanks Jamie, I can't do garments either, the pattern instructions completely baffle me! We'll have to wait and see if I can even finish the dress before I look for a home for it, LOL.
I have a 3 1/2 year old granddaughter who would love that dress! Should you need to find someone to give it to! She loves pink!
