Annual Chaos

Every year, round about this time, I get the urge to create some tranquility out of the household chaos that inevitably develops.  I’m a bit of a neat freak, but my closets seem to be immune… they’re enough to make a person cry!

In this house, it’s my fault, because I chose a home that wasn’t really large enough for Jim and I and all our toys.  I really only expected to be here a few years and move!

For the last week, Jim and I have been working on re-organizing things.  He’s back at work now, and there is a LOT left to be done… so that’s what I’m doing.

My HQ16 got moved from the 2nd spare bedroom down into the attached garage.  Shelves are going up to serve as and extended pantry.  One wall is full, or will be as soon as I haul the rest of my 5 gallon buckets of wheat berries down and put them on the bottom shelves.

I’m going to buy some of those interlocking cushioned rubber mats from Lowes to place in the front and the back of the quilt frame, to cushion my feet when I’m standing there.

One more wall of shelves to go.  I realized once the first wall was up that next year’s project is going to be taking all the food off the shelves, and sewing covers for them all.  Silly me, should have thought of that to start with!

Once the 2nd bedroom was freed up, I moved half my sewing gear into that room.  I’m still working on organizing everything… maybe I’ll even get around to decorating these rooms!

With someone who sews as much as I do, wouldn’t you think my sewing areas would have curtains, and wallhangings, and all sorts of handmade items?  Nope.  Not a one.

I put my Bernina 630, my Bernina serger, and my Babylock coverstitch machine in the 2nd spare bedroom, along with the ironing board.

The other bedroom has my cutting/work table, (with my scrap bins sorted by color back underneath, yay!) my thread carts, and my computer.  Definitely utilitarian looking, but this is the room I do most of my work in.

When I get it all done, I’ll post better pictures.  But that’s what I’ve been up to lately, and it’ll probably take me another week or two to finish.  Closets next.  Ugh.

What -- you haven't knocked out the walls between those rooms yet? I'll send my DDIL -- she's a whiz with a chain saw and sledge hammer!

Okay, I guess I misread or haven't been reading correctly, didn't you say you were going to combine Created by CJ with Tinkletimes?

I'm just realizing you're posting on both. It's my "DAH" moment but I get plenty of them.

Girl - you're going to have space - space - space. Uh oh, you may be finding yourself making more and more garments.

Ooh, forgot - I'll join you in any of the three rooms...LOL

I'm tossing the idea around Cindy, but I'm going to try separate blogs for a bit. Sewing on this one, cooking and everything else on the other. After a bit, perhaps I'll decided what I want to do. LOL

I have a suggestion for your food storage--- check out http://www.shelfreliance.com/ they have some amazing shelving units that rotate the cans automatically for you----the shelves hold all varieties of sizes of cans---even #10. My dream is to have a couple for my "pantry".
