Just how big is it?

If you’re like me and love to play with the decorative stitches on your Bernina 8 series machine, you are probably sometimes quite surprised at how large the directional sewing stitches can actually be!

I always have to sew one out to see if it’s going to work in my project.

But this morning, I noticed something that has previously escaped my attention!  The directional sewing stitches display the size in the top left corner of the sew out screen, as show by the red arrow.

I confess I have to pull a metric ruler out to “translate” though, having grown up with inches instead of millimeters!

CJ, You're a font of information. I have noticed those numbers, but your explanation is so good. Thanks.

This machine is just full of goodies isn't it? The more I play, the more I discover, and the more I love it!

I'm in the process of creating ornaments and am using the fancy stitches at this very time. I LOVE using the 830 and ALL it has to offer. Aren't the fancy stitches fun? I keep finding out daily how much more I continue to love this machine.

Pretty soon we'll be convinced we need two of the 8 series machines eh? :)

I have a measuring tape on my sewing table which has metric and English measures. I confess, I will be writing the metric measures on my hoops in permanent marker soon. That will help me to remember when I am digitizing what size hoop I have. I will probably use the metric measure ruler on my sewing table to measure the hoops. Wishing it was easier to convert my internal measuring apparatus! Barbara Klink in Saint Louis

FYI. If you have an iPhone there is a conversion app that I find very handy. I live in the land of metric measure and also find I have to convert back and forth.
